Using Silk Wedding Flowers – A Smart Option

Using silk wedding flowers have not gotten enough credibility because they can be a great option for couples that are working with a tighter budget. But in this case, spending less money on wedding flowers doesn’t always have to mean you will be sacrificing quality.

Why Use Silk Wedding Flowers?

The last two style shoots I have photographed have used silk wedding flowers. I have to admit at first I was skeptical and the faux floral sections of Michael’s or Hobby Lobby came to mind. But I could not have been more mistaken. Experienced and talented floral designers have expanded their craft to include a variety of silk flowers as part of their wedding floral packages. They use the same creativity and artistic skill just as if they were using real flowers. I also have observed that the quality of these artificial flowers is so realistic that in photographs, it’s hard to tell the difference.

The style shoot last week at 1010 West in Orlando was organized by Andie Muller, owner of The Flower Studio in Altamonte. Andie used a combination of garden roses, ranunculus, peonies, and tea roses in the bride’s hairpiece and bouquet, groom’s boutonniere, table centerpieces, cake and dessert table, and arch. There was even a sweet dog for the shoot to show how you can even use silk flowers for a dog at your wedding. Orlando wedding vendor, A Chair Affair also contributed to the table arrangements for a stunning display. I loved the color palette of blush and gold that is on the glassware, chargers, and plates. These blended in wonderfully with the warm tones of the rustic walls at 1010 West. The bride and groom, Carla and Josh, are really engaged and were so adorable together. Their true love showed in all of the photos. Carla’s gown was classic and gorgeous in luxurious silk with a very flattering lace cut-out down the back.
