Planning a Washington DC wedding? I’ve got the perfect venue that might be off your radar. It’s the historic Whittemore House in Dupont Circle.
Originally built as a home for opera singer Sarah Adams Whittemore in the 1890s, the historic mansion was granted museum status in 2000 and now hosts the Women’s National Democratic Club (WNDC), as well as weddings for Washington DC couples.
I had the honor of shooting an amazing collaborative bridal editorial, representing Washington DC, Maryland, and Orlando vendors. We photographed in the 1870s room on the second floor, (now informally called the Hillary Clinton Room as it houses the Club’s collection of photographs of the Clinton administration), in the upstairs library room with walls that feature Roosevelt family photos given to the WNDC by the First Lady’s great-granddaughter, and on the gorgeous cascading stairs. I love all that this venue offers in its rich history, beautiful architecture, and furnishings, and for what it provides today’s bride, dynamic women role models that inspire every woman to live life to her full potential.
Samantha Karlin, CEO of Empower Global and live talk show host, modeled two stunning dresses from Definition Bridal. The first gown named “Joy” is designed by Riki Dalal, one of the most respected designers in the wedding industry today known for collections that are inspired by timeless femininity.
Freelance Makeup Artist and Licensed Esthetician Caitlin Brecht and Hairstylist Sarah Harrod did a phenomenal job of creating the look I envisioned for this editorial, a modern yet classic and timeless Grace Kelly look.
The second dress from Definition Bridal that Samantha wore was an elegant long sleeve gown that made for an amazing dramatic portrait in the photo gallery hallway leading to the Roosevelt library.
And for more dramatic photos back in the 1870s room.
