Couples in DC who are wedding planning often fall in love with downtown Frederick for its less hectic and more intimate historic vibe. Only about an hour from DC, Frederick offers a charming historic district with brick-lined streets and for a photographer in Frederick, MD, this setting is a welcomed change from the city.
Ashley, who is sadly battling stage 4 renal cancer, wanted to be able to celebrate with their dearest family and friends as soon as possible and had their wedding through the generosity of the non-profit Wish Upon a Wedding. Wish Upon a Wedding is a 501(c)3 non-profit that grants weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness or life-altering health circumstances.
They chose The Citizens Ballroom, a historic wedding venue in the heart of downtown. The former bank has been lovingly renovated to its original glory and updated for its new life as a celebration space. Originally built in 1908, the building still contains most of its original details, including bronze doors, statement 30-foot coffered ceilings and signature bank vaults. Designed for the Frederick, MD photographer in mind, Citizens Ballroom has been elegantly updated to include modern finishes while still preserving the building’s original details.
The convenient downtown location allowed Ashley and Blake to rent an Airbnb blocks away from the venue for their wedding party, family, and friends.
Theirs was a happy and vibrant wedding theme with bouquets and arrangements in a mix of blues, fuschias, pinks, and corals. Table settings consisted of blue napkins and white plates adorned with a blue floral border. Their 2-tier cake was a real showstopper with live florals that matched their other arrangements.
It was my greatest honor to give my time and talents to such a beautiful couple and my prayers go out to Ashley for her complete recovery.
