DC weddings at the beautiful and historic Patterson Mansion right in the heart of Dupont Circle can easily become the kind of wedding you always dreamed of. All you need is just some inspiration. That’s why I teamed up to collaborate with some of DC’s top wedding vendors.
Talema Rice, Owner/Planner of Noir Blanc Events, and I had a vision for creating a modern yet minimalistic and bold wedding when we did a site visit at The Patterson Mansion.
We loved the combination of the mansion’s historic architecture with its modern decor and interior furnishings. The Library’s all-black walls and intricately carved crown molding and fireplace provided our inspiration for small reception dining and or cocktail hour. We loved the idea of mixing mediums for contrast so we chose to blend pastel taper candles, petite bud vases, and blush champagne glasses with black and teal plates, black and gold flatware, and black chairs. The table decor was provided by Something Vintage and DC Rentals. CHG Creative Company provided the calligraphy for the invitation suite (pictured above)that features a sketch rendering of the exterior of the Patterson Mansion and the place cards that were attached to dried orange slices.
The upstairs foyer with french doors overlooking Dupont Circle and a winding marble staircase was our inspiration for a small ceremony space where guests could then flow into both the adjacent ballroom and the library. Beautiful trailing upward wildflowers along the french doors provided a very unique and compelling altar. Floral design by Little Acre Flowers.
The gorgeous wedding dresses were courtesy of Modern Trousseau DC and the classic tuxedo is from Old Town Tuxedos.
The marble and wrought iron winding staircase can be used to lead your guests upstairs to the reception and for couple portraits.
The Patterson Mansion offers an 898-square-foot ballroom with soaring ceilings and a built-in bar that can create an amazing space for up to 60 guests. We used this space for more lovely couple portraits.
