As an Eastern Shore Maryland wedding photographer, I was thrilled to be photographing Courtney & Jaine’s wedding at the Kent Island Resort. It was my first time photographing there and I can’t wait to return for my next one! I’m sure once you see their beautiful photographs, you’ll understand.
I love discovering that after their first date in high school 10 years ago, Jaime waited to propose after she finished nursing school. Since high school romances typically don’t lead to marriage, I was so honored to photograph their wedding and document their special love for each other.
Starting off the day, I captured fun moments in both Courtney and Jaime’s rooms at the Inn where they were all getting ready. I was a little challenged to make sure Jaime did not get a glimpse of Courtney beforehand because they were not doing a first look.
Courtney was quickly jotting copying her vows to Jaime from her phone for their Officiant.
Their ceremony was held at the scenic garden venue overlooking the water.
Courtney’s Dad has passed away so it was very touching to see a reserved seat next to her Mom with a white rose. Their personal vows that they read to one another also brought her and several family members to tears.
Courtney and Jaime’s reception was held in the outdoor tent on the property. The light was so lovely both in the late afternoon light and at dusk.
I had originally planned to do their sunset pictures on the dock overlooking the creek, but when I noticed how truly golden the light was in the adjacent field, I couldn’t resist doing their portraits there. Can you blame me?
The close proximity of the field to the reception tent allowed them to get back to their guests and enjoy their reception which was a bonus!
Kent Island Resort, formerly known as the Waterfront Historic Kent Manor Inn, has been renovated to restore and update the charm of this 200-year-old property.
The property is conveniently located in Stevensville, MD, about half an hour from BWI Airport, and 45 minutes from both DC and Baltimore. The Manor Inn has an early 19th-century design and is enveloped by a gorgeous natural backdrop. The scenic waterfront location provides a luxurious destination that is also rich in history.
The Pavilion and Farmstead venues can host up to 250 guests each, and the smaller Garden House that overlooks Thompson Creek can accommodate up to 75 people. Regardless of the size, all of the reception venues offer contemporary spaces with great natural light. The Inn itself is charming and is furnished with antiques and the original 19th-century ornate detail. An added reception tent is also on the property that overlooks beautiful wooded acreage.
