As far wedding venues in DC go, The U.S. National Arboretum is usually not highly sought after by couples, but in my opinion, it should be on top of your list, and here’s why.
Meredith and Steve chose the U.S. National Arboretum because they loved the grand vistas and the beautiful juxtaposition of nature with the classical historic National Capitol Columns. The 22 Corinthian columns from the U.S. Capitol bore witness to presidential inaugurations from Andrew Jackson to Dwight D. Eisenhower. These majestic columns are located adjacent to the National Herb Garden Meadow, in the heart of the arboretum. The columns create an elegant and unique setting for couple portraits, wedding party, and group photos.
The Arboretum also offers a charming park-like environment that is both naturally beautiful and unique with benches and a fountain among the Dogwood Collection. The Azalea Garden was the perfect hidden spot that Meredith and Steve chose for their first look.
The vast open green spaces inside the Arboretum allow for you to have nature as your backdrop for your ceremony space. Even on a busy Saturday DC afternoon, Merdith and Steve’s ceremony was free of any passersby or tourists. The ceremony also had the backdrop of the columns.
Meredith and her bridesmaids got ready before heading to the Arboretum at the Residence Inn by Marriott on Vermont Avenue in northwest DC, about a 20-minute drive from the Arboretum. The Arboretum’s convenient location adds to its appeal as one of the top venues in DC.
