Photographing a wedding on a boat was a first for this photographer, Washington, DC and I was more than excited to document Aylin and Nathan’s city cruise wedding along the Potomac.
If you’re looking for a simpler gathering to celebrate your nuptials with your closest friends and family, and want it to be an experience for all to remember, I highly recommend having a wedding aboard a City Cruise boat, a truly unique floating venue that will thrill your guests with views of the city’s iconic monuments and landmarks as the scenic backdrop for your wedding.
This special experience is exactly what Aylin and Nathan were seeking for their pre-Christmas December wedding in DC.
Their special day started with Aylin arriving, dress in hand, to board The Odyssey. We did her bridal portraits inside the ship, along with her flower girl. (Keep in mind that the boat does not include a bridal suite.)
Nathan arrived and had his Mom help him put on his boutonniere.
When they were all ready for their ceremony to begin, the guests were permitted to board the ship. The seating was restaurant style with the bar, brunch buffet table, and ceremony space in the center.
Their ceremony was brief but did not hold back on emotions or in displaying how much they love each other.
Afterwards, I brought them outside to take their first portraits as husband and wife.
The dance floor is on the small side, but it was just big enough for Aylin and Nathan to have their beautiful first dance and to get their reception festivities going. Their guests danced the afternoon away as The Odyssey cruised by The Jefferson Memorial and The National Monument.
