When looking for mansion wedding venues in Maryland, consider Grey Rock Mansion in Pikesville, near Baltimore and Washington, DC. I had the honor of photographing Tatiana and Mike’s wedding at this venue and loved how they made this historic estate even better.
The historic Grey Rock Mansion, built in 1858, includes ornate, historic indoor rooms, a large tent with romantic chandeliers and draping, and an outdoor ceremony garden complete with a gazebo and fountain.
While all of these elements make this Italian countryside-inspired estate beautiful, Tatiana’s vision was to give her guests the feeling that they were transported back in time. So with the help of her planner Stephanie, and Hazelwood Rentals, they filled the entire first floor interior rooms with Victorian pieces of furniture such as velvet-covered chairs and loveseats.
The period furniture provided a touch of elegance for portraits and for Tatiana and Mike’s first look.
The bridal suite upstairs is amazingly spacious with an antique settee against a wall of windows which was perfect for Tatiana’s bridal party photos and more portraits in her gorgeous vintage gown.
Tatiana wanted a special moment with her Dad on the steps of the mansion before he walked her down the aisle. For their ceremony outside, lanterns bordered the aisles and faux hanging wisteria hung down from the garden gazebo.
Tatiana and Mike entered their reception tent that was romantically-lit by string lights and chandeliers. As they made their way past their guests toward their sweetheart table, it was there that they did their first dance. Although at first glance it appeared that the space might be too small for their first dance, but as the emotions poured out for both of them and the lighting proved to be victorian-like, it fit so perfectly with their wedding theme.
Guests made their way inside the mansion and into the main ballroom for dancing after dinner.
Beautiful amber skies provided a beautiful backdrop for more sunset portraits with Tatiana and Mike in the front of the estate.
