The family photo session I did over the holidays was one of the funnest sessions I’ve done in quite awhile. It wasn’t just the fact that they are great friends, because sometimes photographing good friends can be nerve wracking for me, but they were just so full of joy and spontaneity and willing to do anything I suggested. They were free to just be who they were as we walked around Lake Eola in downtown Orlando and I feel I was able to capture the true essence of who they are in their images. Some of their ease in being themselves might also be a result of past theatre backgrounds, especially for mom Autumn Garick, a veteran actress and storyteller who owns her own business, Tales Two Tell. Garick and storytelling business partner Robin Schulte perform at area schools, clubs, museums and libraries.
I hope we can learn ( myself included) from these pictures from their session that we should never take ourselves too seriously. We should all learn to laugh more, love our families with all that we have, and most importantly never to be afraid to show the Real Us to the world. Because quite frankly, the Real Us just might be what others need to see.
