My first senior session for 2021 was with Tyler and I couldn’t be more excited to share his amazing photos! We did his session at and around Rollins College, a favorite and easy location for doing my senior boy photography outdoors.
Clothes Ideas for Senior Boy Pictures
When Tyler arrived, he already took my breath away by what he was wearing! I loved his dark berry and navy patterned shirt paired with dark slim jeans and loafers. I took a sneak peek at the other outfits he brought and got so excited because each ensemble was as stylish as the next. I knew his pictures were going to be a great inspiration for so many guys that struggle with knowing what to wear for their senior pictures. We did his first poses on the dock and I could tell right away he was very at ease in front of the camera. Most definitely his confidence came from his years of performing in Oviedo High School and community productions. Check out these first poses.
Tyler’s next outfit was a smart preppy teal-green sweater paired with camel-covered khaki pants and navy and white Van sneakers. The reason this particular combination works is because of the bold contrast between the sweater and his shoes. We walked around campus and found some great outdoor spots to shoot in. When I’m shooting outdoor senior sessions, I love to scout out architecture and scenery that match and compliment the outfits my seniors are wearing. Here, you can see I found some awesome nooks and crannies to highlight his green sweater outfit.
Poses for Senior Boy Photography Outdoors
From there we ventured off to a fountain on campus that seemed like a great fit with his sky blue button-down shirt and ripped jeans. I had actually never used the fountain before for guy portraits because I was never sure how to pose them. Tyler was up for the posing challenge and we went for it! I wanted to get the blue water in the fountain as my backdrop so I stood on my ladder as you can see here.
This is the result from that angle.
Then, a funny thing happened… it was hot and there was water, and, oh well, what the heck why not?
Posing lesson: Make sure your senior guy is as relaxed as possible! Enough to take off his shoes and dip is feet in a fountain!
Cool Clothes Make for Better poses
Tyler’s last outfit was a cool leather jacket, a white muscle-tee, and faded jeans. You’ve heard the saying, “the clothes make the man?” Well, this couldn’t have been more true! Although Tyler is not really a greaser, although he did perform in the play. Either way, he rocked the outfit (pun intended!) and I love the poses we got to end his senior session.
