One of my favorite neighborhoods in DC, is without a doubt, Georgetown, so of course I was thrilled when Clara & Rob chose me to be their wedding photographer for their Georgetown Washington, DC wedding. Their wedding beautifully embraced all of what makes Georgetown so special, it’s charm, elegance, and historic architecture. I hope for those of you reading this that may be planning a Georgetown wedding, that you find their celebration at The Graham Hotel and L’Avant Garde DC wonderful inspiration.
The day began in the beautiful Georgetown townhouse at The Graham Hotel, where Clara and her mom spent the morning getting ready together with other close friends and family. The townhouse offered the perfect blend of historic character and refined elegance, with gorgeous natural light streaming through the windows and a private outdoor deck that overlooked the garden, where Clara revealed herself to Rob for their pre-ceremony photos.

One of the many reasons couples choose Georgetown is that it offers beautiful wedding venues tucked away from the bustle of the city. Clara and Rob exchanged vows in the charming garden at The Graham Hotel, surrounded by their closest family and friends. The garden also served a lovely setting for their cocktail hour.

One of the greatest advantages of celebrating your wedding in Georgetown is that stunning portrait locations are only steps away. After the ceremony, we explored the surrounding streets, capturing timeless images against Georgetown’s iconic row houses, charming alleyways, and historic architecture.

As a wedding photographer who does a lot of Washington, DC weddings, I encouraged Clara and Rob to build time into their wedding day for portraits to take advantage of the beauty on Canal Street around the corner from the Graham Hotel. I love photographing weddings in Georgetown because it offers endless opportunities for beautiful, authentic photographs without ever needing transportation between locations. In fact both of their venues were just a short five minute walk apart.
Following the ceremony, guests made their way to L’Avant Garde DC for an intimate wedding dinner.
The private room that was set up for about 50 of their closest family and friends, was warm, with sophisticated murals, artwork, and lighting that created the perfect atmosphere for an evening centered around great food, heartfelt toasts, and meaningful conversation.
From emotional speeches to laughter shared around beautifully lit tables, every detail reflected Clara and Rob’s vision for a celebration focused on connecting with their favorite people.

Their after party was being held immediately following dinner back at The Speakeasy Lounge at the Graham Hotel, but not before I was done photographing them as they walked through the romantic neighborhood lights of downtown Georgetown.

At the intimate speakeasy lounge, where the lights dimmed, the music turned up, and the dance floor quickly filled, it was the perfect ending to their Georgetown wedding that already was a day filled with romance and genuine fun.

Clara and Rob’s wedding beautifully showcased everything that makes Georgetown one of my favorite places to photograph weddings in Washington, DC. From exchanging vows in a hidden garden, using the historic canal street for their beautiful portraits, enjoying an intimate dinner at L’Avant Garde DC, and finishing the evening with a lively lounge celebration, every part of their day merged together effortlessly through one of the city’s most beautiful neighborhoods.
It’s easy to see why Georgetown is a highly sought after wedding destination. The town offers an incredible combination of timeless architecture, walkable venues, elegant hotels, and nothing less than gorgeous portrait locations. Whether you’re planning an intimate gathering or a full wedding weekend, Georgetown provides the perfect backdrop for photographs that will remain beautiful for generations.
